NFL Week 4 breakdown

To me, there is nothing better than the NFL season. I don’t appreciate how much I miss it in the offseason until it starts back up again in September. The 100th season just finished up the 4th week. This week was full of upsets and close games. Also this was the first week that byes occurred but only for the Jets and 49ers. Entering the week we started with 8 teams that are yet to lose.

The Indianapolis Colts were at home against the Raiders. The Colts have been playing solid behind Jacoby Brissett and has a very good chance to beat the mediocre Raiders. The Raiders came out strong. Taking an early lead and never looking back. Raiders won 31-24 making each team 2-2.

For the first time in his NFL career, Patrick Mahomes played a football game in an indoor stadium. If he was putting up record numbers with wind, rain and cold, many thought that he was gonna have 600 passing yards. They were against the Detroit Lions. The Lions have been shockingly good this season beating the Chargers and Eagles. This was a fantastic game. It went back and forth. Late in the game, down by 3 Mahomes rushed to convert a 4th and 8. They went down the field to score a touchdown to take the lead with under a minute to go. The Chiefs are now 4-0 while the Lions fall to 2-1-1.

Who would’ve thought that the Buffalo Bills would be undefeated after 3 weeks. They were at home against their toughest competition so far this season. They had the defending champion New England Patriots coming into town. The Bills played really well and were able to keep it close the whole game. Late in the game, a Patriots defender had a dirty hit on Josh Allen causing him to be on the sideline for the rest of the game. The Bills were down by 6 with the ball. Only problem was that they had Matt Barkley in at quarterback. They came up just short but after seeing how they played on sunday, they are looking like they could see the postseason again.

Minshew mania has come. After leading the Jaguars to a win last Thursday he looked to back up his performance against the struggling Denver Broncos. This game was another close game until the end. Down 24-23, Gardner Minshew got the ball trying to have a game winning drive. He was successful, setting Josh Lambo up with a 33 yard field goal to win at the buzzer. The Broncos are still winless and the Jags are now even at 2.

Two weeks ago the season wasn’t looking to great for New Orleans Saints fans. They had a team that was a super bowl contender but their star quarterback, Drew Brees hurt his thumb and needed surgery, making him out for around 6 weeks. Teddy Bridgewater led them to a victory against the Seahawks last week but not he has the Dallas Cowboys against him. Sunday night football, Cowboys at Saints, what more can you ask for? It was kind of a slow game with little scoring. The Cowboys were the only team to score a touchdown but they lost the game 12-10 behind 4 Will Lutz field goals.

Saints and Cowboys are each 3-1 after the game.

The week started with 8 undefeated teams and ended with just 3, the Patriots, Chiefs and the 49ers. Week 4 consisted of several upsets, close games and blowouts. I can’t wait to see what is in store for week 5.
