Lebron James, Mike Trout, Peyton Manning, Alex Ovechkin: The immediate superstar names that come to mind whenever you think of MVP’s, or athlete of the week caliber guys. However, this week was dominated by Giannis Antetokounmpo, SG/SF for the Milwaukee Bucks, as he took the league by force. Not only did he average a near 20 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks during the week, but he steered the Bucks in the right direction with a 3-1 record for the week. The young Antetokounmpo, only 20 years old, recorded three double-doubles in those 4 games. In addition, he added a career-high 25 points in a win over the L.A. Lakers on February 4th. However, that career-best didn’t last long, when in a game at Houston just two days later, posting a new career-best in both points with 27 and also collected 15 rebounds, yet another career high. Giannis added onto his spectacular week with another double-double in a win over Boston on Feb. 7. Taking the league by storm slowly but surely, keep your eye out for the “Greek Freak”, as this is not just a fluke, he is a star on the rise and a threat to others around the league. An all star-bound athlete, Giannis is certainly doing all he can to push his Milwaukee Bucks deeper into the playoff seeding.
