Why The Rangers Will Be Just Fine Without the King

The man that many refer to as ‘The King’ has gone down with an injury; No, I am

not talking about the 6’8 250lb freak of nature that can be seen running up and down

the court in Quicken Loans arena. I am talking about the 6’1 188lb swede that can be

seen tending the net for the New York Rangers in the world’s most famous arena.

Henrik Lundqvist, the Rangers star goaltender will be on the shelf for an indefinite

amount of time with a “blood vessel injury.” Lundqvist has gone on the record stating

that he will not push this injury, so the question all Rangers have on their minds right

now, what the hell are we going to do? Lundqvist is commonly regarded as one of the

top goalies in the league, and has the ability to steal games even when the team is

failing to play well in front of him. This season Lundqvist has a solid 25113 record

while maintaining a .922 SV% and an equally impressive 2.25 GAA. Lundqvist has been

the focal point for the Rangers for so many years its hard for fans to realize that the

Rangers do in fact have a very capable backup in Cam Talbot. Although Talbot has

been unable to play many games because of Lundqvist taking the minutes in front of

him he has still posted a .918 SV% and a 2.28 GAA. All Rangers fans know that Talbot

is matter of factly no Lundqvist, however, he is more than capable of bridging the gap

between now and Lundqvist’s return from injury while maintaining the Rangers playoff

position. Anything can happen once you have reached the playoffs as illustrated by the

LA Kings who have won two Stanley Cups in three years as an 8seed and a 6seed.

So Ranger fans I say to you, be patient, Talbot can carry you until The King is ready for

his throne again.
